Barcelona manager Xavi speaks on Premiere League title race. Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United are vying for the Premier League championship, and Barcelona boss Xavi is finding it difficult to predict the winner. The difference between the first-place Arsenal and the second-place Cityzens is just two points. Due to their five-point deficit to Mikel Arteta’s team in third place, the Red Devils have emerged as potential underdogs in the battle for the championship. However, the Gunners lead their championship rivals by a game.
On Thursday, the second match of Xavi’s team’s UEFA Europa League knockout playoff against Manchester United will take place at Old Trafford (February 22). Following an exciting first game at Camp Nou, the scores are tied at 2-2.
The Spaniard claimed that because all three teams are performing well, it is tough to predict who will win the Premier League title: “The final stretch of the season will be extremely exciting for Arsenal, City, and United. They are all strong and performing very well, but the league is very demanding, so I couldn’t predict a winner. These three organizations have my utmost respect.”
Under Arteta, the Gunners have had an exceptional season, placing them in a strong position to win the league for the first time since 2004. On February 15, they fell short against Manchester City at the Emirates, losing 3-1, and Pep Guardiola’s team overtook them at the summit of the standings on goal differential.
But last weekend, Arsenal defeated Aston Villa 4-2 in a dramatic finish, while City was held to a 1-1 tie with Nottingham Forest. Later, Arteta’s team increased its lead at the summit to two points. Manchester United, meanwhile, has elevated itself to contention following the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup with outstanding results. They have won seven out of ten games, including a 2-1 victory over Manchester City, and have only fallen once, to Arsenal.
After missing the majority of the 2020–21 season due to a long-term meniscus injury, Fati relinquished his starting position at Barcelona. This season, the Spanish winger has made 33 appearances across all categories, contributing three assists and six goals. He has only played ten games, though.
Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool are reportedly keeping an eye on Fati, whose contract ends in 2027, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. In last week’s 2-2 draw between the Blaugrana and Red Devils, he played off the substitute.
After making his Barcelona debut in 2019, Fati has since made 91 appearances in various competitions, adding nine assists in addition to 25 goals. The athlete is valued at €50 million on Transfermarkt.
