Arsene Wenger to speak on Arsenal’s summer transfer. Arsene Wenger, a legendary figure at Arsenal, has commented on Mikel Arteta’s three new additions this summer.
Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, and Kai Havertz were all signed by the Gunners for significant sums of money. Their most recent acquisition is an English midfielder, who will cost the north London club a club-record £105 million to acquire from West Ham United.
Before Rice, Mikel Arteta managed the £38 million arrival of Timber from Ajax. Their summer spending exceeds £200 million when you factor in the £65 million Arsenal paid Chelsea to get Kai Havertz last month.
Wenger, who during his time at the Emirates personally advocated for the acquisition of young players with promise, stated through Eurosport (h/t @AfcStuff on Twitter): “I believe it to be a wise investment. Overall, in my opinion, I believe they made wise purchases as the players are still young, 23, and mature enough to play together for a few more years.”
Rice, 24, was undoubtedly the first name listed on each week’s West Ham club roster. Last season, when they won the UEFA Europa Conference League, he led them to their first major title in 43 years.
Timber, 22, has played 120 senior matches for Ajax over the past three seasons and has already earned 15 caps for the Netherlands. Havertz (age 24) has also accumulated respectable experience while playing for Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen.
During his three seasons at Chelsea, the German made 139 appearances and recorded 32 goals and 15 assists.
Declan Rice has come to Arsenal ‘hungry’ for success:
Before being edged out by Manchester City at the end of the previous season, Mikel Arteta’s young Arsenal team was on the verge of winning the Premier League.
Granit Xhaka (30) and Pablo Mari (29), as well as Thomas Partey (30), have subsequently been sold by the Spanish strategist, who has also been linked to a departure. Ahead of the next season, he appears to be further lowering the club’s average age.
Declan Rice has said that he is aware of what the supporters want, and he is anticipated to anchor the young Gunners’ midfield next season.
In his initial interview following his arrival at the Emirates, the Englishman stated the following to the club’s official website: “That means a lot to me with Mikel and the way he works, the team, how young everyone is, the energy surrounding the club, and also the challenge of putting Arsenal back to where they belong. The fans want that, I know. As a player, I came here extremely motivated to succeed further and to spend my best years at this fantastic club.”
The average age of the North London team in the Premier League last year was 24.1 years.
