Pundit says Chelsea cannot invest big money. Alan Hutton, a former defender for Tottenham Hotspur, reportedly claimed he would be shocked if Chelsea paid £100 million to sign Moises Caicedo, a central midfielder for Brighton & Hove Albion, this summer.
As the Blues look to overhaul their team, Mauricio Pochettino and company have identified Caicedo as a major transfer target this summer. After the departures of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, midfield reinforcement will be crucial.
Until 2027, the 21-year-old’s new long-term contract with the Seagulls is in effect. Following Declan Rice’s £105 million transfer to Arsenal, The Telegraph reports that Moises Caicedo is valued at £100 million by Brighton.
Fortunately for Chelsea, a report from Football Insider on Thursday, July 13, stated that the Blues are confident about completing the £80 million acquisition.
If Brighton had been able to collect £100 million from Caicedo’s departure, Alan Hutton thinks they would have done well. Through Football Insider, he stated:
“I consider it to be a considerable sum. He is a fantastic player in my opinion, and he had a fantastic season. The going rate for elite footballers in the Premier League looks to be £100 million.
Of course, he’s going to a wonderful football team, but Brighton are the ones who are doing the best in this situation because of their outstanding recruitment, so if they were able to make £100 million on Caicedo, it is an amazing piece of business, the analyst continued. “I believe he makes Chelsea better, but if it’s £100 million, I would be surprised.”
For Brighton, Moises Caicedo had a standout 2022–23 season. The Seagulls’ sixth-place finish in the league and automatic qualification for the UEFA Europa League were aided by the central defensive midfielder’s 43 appearances in all competitions.
Chelsea target’s father confirms imminent move to Stamford Bridge:
After Brazilian prodigy Angelo Gabriel’s father prematurely announced his son’s transfer to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea is about to make another deal this summer. Angelo is expected to transfer from Santos to the Blues for €15 million, according to A Tribuna.
The Blues have been linked to the 18-year-old right winger for some time, as manager Mauricio Pochettino is eager to add intriguing new talent to his present side. Last season, the Brazilian played 32 times for Santos in all competitions, scoring twice.
His father spoke to TalkSPORT: “It is a tremendous happiness that goes without saying, but it is tinged with sadness. His mother, Idene Dias Damasceno, and I will be with him for at least the first six months as he gets used to the very different climate. It’s a different country, with different morals. The presence of two Brazilians on the team is quite beneficial.
According to reports, Angelo Gabriel will shortly go to the United States to participate in Chelsea’s preseason training camp.”
