Pundit criticized Manchester United star. Wout Weghorst, a striker on loan from Manchester United, has received mockery from former Sky Sports reporter Richard Keys for his performance against Newcastle United. The Dutch forward, according to the Englishman, is a subpar athlete who is unsuited to represent the Red Devils.
On April 2, Manchester United lost to the Magpies 2-0 thanks to goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson. Weghorst played poorly, and Keys had no patience for the Dutch forward.
They’ll never win a championship with Nout Workhorse in the lineup, the Englishman noted on his blog. Though, why do they showcase him? Because he is beginning games, his supporters claim that he must be doing something right. Really? So what is it? Also, please refrain from calling him a “pressing monster” or someone who “starts the backward press,” whatever that means.
He continued, “Last week, [Erik] Ten Hag informed us of his intention to sign him permanently and added that Workhorse “creates room for players.” I’ll tell you what, if he weren’t on the field, he would make more room.
He’s a bang-average center-forward who doesn’t score goals and isn’t strong enough to play for United, according to Keys’ analysis. Every time Ten Hag speaks about him, it sounds like a man in a desperate attempt to defend a mistake.
After Weghorst spent time with Turkish club Besiktas, Manchester United obtained his talents on loan from Premier League rival Burnley. The player from the Netherlands has faced some backlash for his actions while playing for the Red Devils.
After nine Premier League starts for Manchester United this season, the 30-year-old forward has yet to score. Weghorst has been criticized by Manchester United icon Louis Saha for failing to deliver for the Red Devils. The Frenchman maintains that the Dutch forward’s performance needs to be improved.
With Weghorst, you can’t be the team’s number nine and play that many games while only offering pressure, he said (via GOAL). It eludes me. Like everyone else, I keep coming back to this; it’s an obvious target, but that’s the way things are.
“You should be challenged a bit more when you aren’t performing for a team like United because he isn’t right now,” Saha continued. I’m not just focusing on him because [Marcus] Rashford is currently the only player who scores goals regularly, and that’s not enough.
Manchester United is now in fifth position in the standings after their loss to the Magpies caused them to drop out of the top four. Brentford will be Ten Hag’s team’s following opponent at Old Trafford on Wednesday. (5 April).
