Defending champions Mumbai City FC shared points with NorthEast United after a hat-trick from Jamaican star striker Deshorn Brown. The Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 high scoring league match played between Mumbai City and NorthEast United at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Monday ended in a 3-3 draw. With their first draw, Mumbai continues to top the points table. Coach des Buckingham’s team has 16 points from eight matches with five wins and one draw. NorthEast United, on the other hand, remain at the ninth place in the eleven-team points table with eight points from nine matches with two wins and two draws.
Defending champions Mumbai City dominated, but there were counter-attacks from NorthEast United. NorthEast United, once trailing 1-3 in the second half, was supported by Deshorn’s hat-trick and the football match with Mumbai City resulted in a 3-3 draw. Deshorn scored a hat-trick in the 80th minute to level NorthEast United at 3-3. The Jamaican forward took advantage of the lack of coordination among the Mumbai defenders to score his third goal in the match. He scored these three goals with the right foot. This is the second hat-trick in Hero ISL 21-22 season.
The Jamaican striker scored with a right footer after taking a long pass inside the box from Mathias Coureur. Spanish striker Igor Angulo scored in the 33rd minute to bring Mumbai to a 1-1 draw. In the 40th minute, Bipin put Mumbai ahead 2-1. This time Igor delivered a great pass creating a great opportunity for Bipin. In the 52nd minute, Igor scored his second goal of the match and seventh of the season to take Mumbai’s lead 3-1. He scored the goal on the cross of Brazilian forward Ygor Catatau. Deshorn Brown scored the other two goals for NorthEast United in the 55th and 80th minute of the game and the match was a tie.
