Barcelona is interested in signing Manuel Ugarte. This summer, Barcelona is reportedly competing with Chelsea and PSG for the services of Manuel Ugarte. The contract of the Sporting Lisbon midfielder includes a €60 million release clause.
According to Gerard Romero, Barcelona is looking to replace Sergio Busquets and has Ugarte on their shortlist. The Uruguayan midfielder is the newest addition to the Catalan team’s options, but there are at least six more.
According to rumors, Barca is also keeping an eye on N’Golo Kante, Sofyan Amrabat, Ruben Neves, Martin Zubimendi, Arthur Vermeeren, and Guido Rodriguez. The club must lower their pay bill to remain within the La Liga cap because they are still having financial problems.
Chelsea and PSG started talks with Sporting Lisbon earlier this month, putting them ahead of Barcelona for the moment. Both parties are eager to exercise Ugarte’s contract’s release clause, so it may come down to whatever club can provide the player with better terms.
Xavi informs the Barcelona board:
To maintain the effectiveness of his system, Xavi has informed the Barcelona board that they must find a defensive midfielder to replace Sergio Busquets. Unfortunately, the manager admitted that their academy, La Masia, at the moment does not have a player with the same profile as the departing midfielder.
The manager was cited by AS as stating the following to the media before their game last week: “To replace Busquets, choose whoever is the most complete and best pivot. Fair play and the state of the economy are important to us. The ideal candidate must be very decisive, powerful enough to win duels, intelligent, and technically proficient. That stands in as Busi’s natural replacement.”
Xavi added: “Players ultimately conclude that they must leave. We’re not sure if we have a replacement at home, so it’s time to go shopping. If we want to compete the following year, we must locate that component. It is essential. This year, Busi has been crucial. Finding a crucial player is necessary if we want to compete the following season.”
Both Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets have declared that they would be leaving the team this summer after canceling their contracts.
