Bayern president sends warning to Barcelona. Following their expressed interest in midfield ace Joshua Kimmich, Barcelona president Herbert Hainer has delivered a stern warning to Bayern Munich.
Barcelona and the Premier League winner Manchester City are allegedly interested in signing the 28-year-old midfielder this summer. Since Kimmich is considered one of the best and most flexible midfielders in Europe, it is not surprising that several elite teams are pursuing him. Heavyweights in La Liga Barcelona is one example.
Following the loss of longtime holding midfielder Sergio Busquets, the Catalan giants are presently searching for midfield reinforcements this summer. Kimmich appears to be a player whom the Barca management admires, as they have been relentless in their efforts to get him to Camp Nou this summer.
In a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, the team’s head coach, Xavi Hernandez, also expressed his respect for the German international. He continued by calling Kimmich a “super top player.”
“He [Kimmich] is an elite player with a tremendous understanding of the game. A dialogue with Bayern will take place if the door is open.”
He said, “It is evident that we require a player of the highest caliber in that position if we want to compete next year.”
However, those assertions made by Xavi appear to have offended Bayern Munich, as the club’s president has publicly warned Barcelona. He continued by saying that Kimmich is a crucial component of their objectives and won’t be up for sale.
Hainer said the following in an interview with Sky Sports Germany: “I don’t know why they [Barca] were so rudely and blatantly flirting with our player. Joshua Kimmich is unquestionably a pillar for us. He will undoubtedly be a part of our plans.”
Whether Bayern Munich will be able to honor their pledge and maintain Kimmich this summer in the face of demand from City and Barcelona remains to be seen.
How well did Bayern player play in which Barcelona is interested since last year?:
During the recently finished 2022–23 football season, which saw Bayern Munich win yet another Bundesliga championship, Kimmich once again played a crucial part for the team.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who played in 47 games for the Bavarians in all competitions this past season, was a constant in the first-team of Bayern Munich. For Bayern throughout all competitions, Kimmich finished the 2022–23 football season with a combined total of seven goals and eleven assists.
