Barcelona to sign Fernando Polo to replace Sergio Busquets. To replace the outgoing Sergio Busquets, Barcelona has reportedly picked Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic as their top target, according to sports journalist Fernando Polo (via Managing Barca).
Both the Croatian national team and the Serie A’s top clubs use Brozovic as a central defensive midfielder. The 30-year-old, who helped Inter win the Coppa Italia and advance to the UEFA Champions League final this season, has distinguished himself as one of the finest in Europe in his position.
The representative of Croatia made 40 appearances across all leagues, with three goals and six assists. He would make a perfect replacement for Barcelona’s great Busquets, who will depart as a free agent this summer following an illustrious 15-year stay with the club.
Despite having a contract with Inter Milan that runs through the summer of 2026, Barcelona is only prepared to pay €15 million for the services of Marcelo Brozovic over three years. Joshua Kimmich and Martin Zubimendi were the Blaugrana’s top choices, but they were passed over because of their exorbitant transfer costs.
According to reports, Brozovic was considering playing in the Saudi Pro League, but according to Diario AS, he is willing to put their interest on hold to potentially join Barcelona.
In 330 games for Inter over seven seasons, the 30-year-old has 31 goals and 43 assists. Additionally, he has five medals, including the Serie A championship for 2020–21.
Sergio Busquets, a former player for Barcelona, will join Inter Miami as a free agent:
Sergio Busquets would sign with MLS team Inter Miami as a free agent, the MLS club formally announced on June 23 after weeks of rumors. The 34-year-old would team up with former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi in this move.
Back in November, the Spaniard expressed interest in relocating to Miami when he stated (via Barca Blaugranes):
“I’ve mentioned that at a news conference and I said it in the summer. Even though this is my final year, I’m not ruling anything out because I have no contracts. I want to be certain of my decision by the end of February. I’ve always claimed to enjoy the US, particularly Miami, but I haven’t struck a deal with any club. or in other leagues.”
Busquets declined many offers to join Inter Miami from the Saudi Pro League. At Inter Miami, Busquets is likely to have an immediate impact. In 722 games for the Blaugrana, he contributed 45 assists and 18 goals, helping Catalunya win 32 major trophies.
