Leaving Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo travels to new places. A few days after Portugal was eliminated from the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo worked out at Real Madrid’s training center in Valdebebas. Nevertheless, he has since left Spain. The attacker, who is present without a club, wants to stay in shape while deciding on his next professional step. His old team Real Madrid didn’t think twice about letting their all-time leading scorer practice at the sports complex. But after spending two days in Madrid, he took his plane to Dubai. Following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan last month, the Portugal international’s contract with Manchester United was amicably ended.
He might have moved on to a big European club next had he done well at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. But Ronaldo’s campaign in Qatar wasn’t quite successful. On the first matchday, he scored against Ghana to become the first player in tournament history to score in five separate iterations. But that was his only goal-related contribution throughout the competition. Additionally, the illustrious forward missed the semifinal matches against Switzerland and Morocco. He entered both games as a substitute.
In the quarterfinals, Morocco ultimately eliminated Portugal. The future of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s career is currently up in the air due to a lack of clarity on his upcoming club. Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, was hesitant to offer Cristiano Ronaldo a regular start in the Premier League this year. This was one of the primary factors in the Portuguese star’s second unsuccessful season at the club.
Former United player Gary Neville recently asserted that the forward’s new team must guarantee him a spot as an indisputable starter. On the Sky Sports World Cup podcast, Neville stated: “Cristiano needs to play; he wants to play, and he has to play; else, he won’t be content and won’t accept it. The club that took him will therefore be aware of this.”
Neville added that if Ronaldo isn’t guaranteed a spot in the starting XI, it hasn’t gone well for him. The previous full-back stated: “Unless the club and the player decide to have an honest dialogue and say, “Come and play for us, but you’re going to be seated on the bench every second week, and you’re going to compete for your place,” there won’t be a change of heart or strategy. However, as we can see from his most recent two clubs, United and Portugal, neither party has taken this well.”
