Arsenal to deal with Chelsea star’s agent for a transfer. According to reports, Arsenal has begun communication with Neil Fewings, the agent of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount. The Gunners are prepared to extend a deal to the Englishman this summer as they strive to strengthen their midfield.
According to a source in 90Min, Arsenal is the most recent team to express interest in Mount. Granit Xhaka is free to leave the Gunners, and they are attempting to entice the English midfielder away from Stamford Bridge. The article also states that Mount’s new agents and the Gunners are in communication. While doing so, Mount continues to explore his alternatives and is receiving attention from several English clubs.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, signed Jorginho from the Blues in January and is aiming to do the same with Mount. The Chelsea player will soon enter the final year of his contract and has not yet agreed to a new one.
Joe Cole, a former player for Chelsea, pushed the Blues to resolve the deal and stated on 90Min: “Mason Mount is likely contemplating the following as he sits there. I have played for this club for the past three or four years, I won the Champions League, and I have advanced in every campaign. He is a leader who puts himself in harm’s way for the group. I do not doubt that he wants to remain at Chelsea. The top of my list would be [a contract renewal]. There must be a compromise to resolve it.”
The 24-year-old Mount has long been a key member of the west London team. In 195 games in all competitions, he has 33 goals and 37 assists.
Mason Mount, a Chelsea great who was once an Arsenal player:
Mason Mount’s potential transfer from Chelsea has been discussed by former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong, who has shown support for the deal.
He stated via FourFourTwo that he does not want the North London team to spend excessively on the Englishman: “Mason Mount is a very talented footballer who can play for Arsenal even though he isn’t a world-class athlete. If I were in charge of Arsenal, he is the player I would like to sign because he would strengthen the team. Young, healthy, extremely professional, and an England international, Mount is Mount.”
He added: “He hasn’t been in fantastic shape, but Chelsea hasn’t either this season. If you’re not a good player, you don’t win Chelsea Player of the Year two years in a row. Arsenal would have to reject the offer if the price was too high because we can’t afford to spend that much money on a single player and we’re not Manchester City.”
Not just Arsenal is interested in acquiring Mount. Along with Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Manchester United are all vying for the title.
The 2022–23 season hasn’t been great for the Englishman. In 35 games across tournaments, he has only provided three goals and six assists while frequently sitting on the bench.
