Brighton and Hove looking to sign Chelsea midfielder. Conor Gallagher, a midfielder for Chelsea, is allegedly a target for Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.
For the majority of the current transfer window, Moises Caicedo of Brighton has been linked with a move to the Blues. The Seagulls have a “genuine interest” in Gallagher, according to a club insider who talked with Sussex World. It’s important to remember that 90min previously reported Brighton’s interest in the Englishman.
According to the Telegraph, Gallagher has also been linked to Tottenham Hotspur, who want to recruit him to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Atletico Madrid, a dominant force in La Liga, and a few Bundesliga teams have both expressed interest in Hojbjerg.
However, The Telegraph’s source also stated that Mauricio Pochettino, the new Chelsea manager, is a fan of Gallagher. Due to the fact that his contract at Stamford Bridge expires in June 2025, the 23-year-old staying there for another season is still a possibility.
In his first full season with the Blues, Gallagher had a difficult year. He played a variety of roles around the midfield in his 45 appearances across tournaments, but only started 21 times.
The midfielder played 35 Premier League games, scoring three goals and providing an assist. While completing 85% of his passes, Gallagher averaged 0.6 crucial passes, 0.7 interceptions, and 1.3 tackles per game but only 45% of his total duels.
Overall, despite a successful season-long loan at Crystal Palace during the 2021–22 season, he didn’t make the kind of leap that fans and experts had anticipated from him. He played 34 league games during that time, scoring eight goals and dishing out three assists while averaging 1.1 critical passes, 0.9 interceptions, and 2.0 tackles per game.
Gallagher might fill Alexis Mac Allister’s spot in central midfield if he joins Brighton after the latter joined Liverpool earlier this summer.
Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion are still negotiating over Moises Caicedo:
Moises Caicedo of Brighton & Hove Albion is still one of Chelsea’s top summer transfer priorities. The Blues and Seagulls have not yet agreed on a price for the Ecuadorian, though. They made an £80 million bid, but Brighton is still holding out for more.
On July 11, transfer news specialist Fabrizio Romano stated that Chelsea and Caicedo have reached a personal agreement. In doing so, he made mention of a tweet he had made earlier this month in which he said the midfielder will undoubtedly depart the American Express Community Stadium this summer.
Latest tweet from Romano: “In June, Caicedo and Chelsea reached a personal agreement. Brighton and Chelsea are still in talks. Nothing has changed so far.”
Following the departures of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, the Blues unquestionably need to strengthen their midfield. While Kovacic moved to Manchester City, Mount moved to Manchester United, and Loftus-Cheek joined AC Milan, Kante joined Al-Ittihad on a free transfer.
