Chris Sutton predicts Manchester United vs Leicester. Chris Sutton, a former Chelsea forward, has offered his prediction for Manchester United’s home Premier League match against Leicester City on February 19.
United enters the game coming off a 2-2 tie against Barcelona in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League playoff match. The Red Devils have won five of their last seven games overall, going undefeated in the process.
As everything is going on, Leicester has won its last three games overall, scoring four goals in each of their last two contests. They defeated Aston Villa 4-2 before defeating Tottenham Hotspur 4-1.
Sutton predicted a fight between the two teams and commended Erik ten Hag’s team for their perseverance in getting results. He stated: “I keep ruling Manchester United out of the title battle — and I still think the title is Manchester City’s, by the way — but United keep finding a way to win games, even when they are not at their best, which is a nice habit to have.”
“We will have to see how Erik ten Hag’s squad copes with the volume of matches they face during their participation in the Europa League, and Thursday’s game against Barcelona is a big diversionary tactic for them,” he continued, adding that the number of games United had to play could have an impact on their performance.
Finally, Sutton predicted that Manchester United will win by a slim margin, writing: “Leicester enjoyed a wonderful win over Tottenham last time out, and it’s evident what a tremendous difference it makes for them to have James Maddison fit again.”
After the Barca game, he continued, “I reserve the right to amend my forecast, but at this point, United have the confidence and trust to carry them through tight games, which is what I think will happen here.”
Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Leicester City
In the Premier League standings, Erik ten Hag’s team is third, five points off of first-place Manchester City and second-place Arsenal. So, continuing their title challenge may depend on their ability to defeat Leicester.

The tie is still undecided, though, because of their draw with Barcelona in the first leg of their Europa League match. On February 23, Manchester United will host the second leg to advance to the Round of 16. On February 26, the Red Devils will play Newcastle United in the EFL Cup final, where they might win their first trophy since 2017.
