Chris Sutton, a football analyst, and former Blackburn Rovers striker thinks the Premier League match between Liverpool and West Ham United on Wednesday (April 26) at the London Stadium would end in a tie.
With 50 points from 31 games, the Reds are seventh in the standings and nine points behind fourth-placed Manchester United. The Hammers, who are currently in 13th place, have moved out of the relegation zone with six points separating them from Everton, who are currently in 18th place.
Sutton believes that nothing may separate the two clubs after 90 minutes in the Wednesday match, despite the disparity in their respective standings. The 1994–1995 Premier League champion stated in his Daily Mail column: “Liverpool 2: West Ham 2. Is anyone up for a four-goal thriller at the London Stadium? On West Ham, the pressure has decreased. They have a good chance of avoiding relegation and can test themselves against a Liverpool team that has exposed some weaknesses this year.”
Both sides have victories on their recent resumes. With goals from Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota, Jurgen Klopp’s team defeated Nottingham Forest at Anfield in a tight 3-2 contest.
At the Vitality Stadium, the Hammers defeated AFC Bournemouth 4-0 with goals from Michail Antonio, Lucas Paqueta, Declan Rice, and Pablo Fornals.
Liverpool will attempt to defeat West Ham United in the league double:
Liverpool and West Ham United fought at Anfield in October before their second league matchup of the Premier League season.
The Reds prevailed by a slim 1-0 margin. In a match where the two teams combined for just 30 shots, Darwin Nunez scored the game’s lone goal in the 22nd minute.
The game’s greatest opportunity for West Ham came just before halftime when Alisson Becker saved Jarrod Bowen’s penalty. The hosts then managed to hold on in the second half to secure a slim victory.
But it’s important to remember that David Moyes’ team triumphed in their most recent meeting at the London Stadium. In November 2021, the Hammers triumphed 3-2.
Four minutes in, an own goal by Alisson gave West Ham the lead, but Trent Alexander-Arnold tied the score for Liverpool in the 41st. Following goals from Pablo Fornals and Kurt Zouma, the hosts were up 3-1. Divock Origi scored a late consolation goal for the Reds.
