Man United star decides to leave for £15m. According to reports, Dean Henderson, the custodian for Manchester United, will join Nottingham Forest this summer. A permanent £15 million transfer for the English player, who spent the entire season on loan at the City Ground, is set to be finalized.
According to a Daily Mail article, Henderson does not see a future at Manchester United despite the fact that David De Gea is about to leave. After finalizing his loan transfer last summer, he announced that he no longer trusted the squad and was vocal about the ‘disrespect’ shown by the Red Devils.
A £15 million fee agreement is in place, according to journalist Chris Wheeler, therefore the long-term transfer to Nottingham Forest should take place soon.
Dean Henderson’s deal with Nottingham Forest is virtually over, he wrote. Although the De Gea twist has kind of put the deal on hold, Henderson will still likely join Forest for around £15 million plus add-ons.
Henderson kept six clean sheets in 20 appearances for Nottingham before suffering a thigh injury last season, keeping them from being relegated. He was supposed to supplant De Gea after a stellar run at Sheffield United, but the Spaniard recaptured the top spot as a result of his injury.
The choice made by Manchester United infuriated Dean Henderson:
Before manager Erik Ten Hag joined Manchester United, according to Dean Henderson, he made the decision to go on loan. The manager could wish to keep him after seeing him in training, he said, but he could not take that chance.
He said to Sky Sports: “I didn’t want the manager to come in and watch me in training because I knew he would want to keep me. I worked hard to complete everything before to the start of the season and let the hierarchy know that I had to leave for a football game.”
He further added: “I don’t want to play a supporting role in this. Since it worked out that I was almost out the door when he entered, I haven’t spoken to the management.”
Henderson persisted, turning down numerous loan offers in 2021 after being assured of the starting position at Old Trafford. But suddenly, things changed, and he became enraged in the club.
He added: “Because I was assured the No. 1 spot last summer, I turned down several attractive loans, but they wouldn’t let me leave. It was irritating. At my age, sitting around and wasting a year is really dreadful. I was enraged.”
Henderson was reportedly a target for Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, but neither club is expected to relocate this summer, according to Sky Sports. 13 clean sheets have only been achieved in 29 of the Englishman’s senior appearances for Manchester United.
