Rio Ferdinand praises Man United star for amazing performance. Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, praised right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka‘s performance against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, April 23, in the FA Cup semifinal.
After extra time, the score remained 0-0, and the Red Devils won the game on penalties. Kaoru Mitoma of Brighton and Wan-Bissaka of United were anticipated to engage in one of the key confrontations prior to the game. In 31 appearances across competitions, Mitoma has excelled for the Seagulls this season, scoring 10 goals and dishing out seven assists.
However, Wan-Bissaka did well throughout the game in neutralizing the Japanese winger’s threat. He made two tackles, and one interception, won all six of his ground battles, and successfully completed all four of his dribble attempts. Both fans and analysts praised the Englishman for his performance against Brighton.
The legendary Ferdinand of Manchester United praised Wan-Bissaka on FIVE, saying (per Metro): “Wan-Bissaka, in my opinion, [was the player who stood out]. Mitoma has been the season’s best discovery since he has caused major issues for every side he has faced.”
He further added: “To be fair to Wan-Bissaka, he also bound him with shackles. We all know how strong a one-on-one defender Wan-Bissaka is, and today he once again showed that he can handle elite players in good form. He is just as good as anyone else when it’s me versus you.”
On June 3 at Wembley, the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City will take place.
Regarding his future at Manchester United, Aaron Wan-Bissaka:
The Red Devils’ agreement with Aaron Wan-Bisska expires in the summer of 2024. This season, he has served as Diogo Dalot’s backup option, raising questions about the Englishman’s future with the team.
However, Wan-Bissaka has developed into a crucial component of Manchester United’s system as a result of Dalot’s decline in form and his great performances.
The former Crystal Palace player also stated his wish to remain with the organization, as reported by Metro: “I’ve always intended to stay, but during that time (when I wasn’t on the squad), all I wanted was to play; everyone enjoys playing, and it makes me happy. I would have done anything to resume playing during that period. Since I joined, I have been pleased here, and that is what I have worked for and continue to work towards.”
Wan-Bissaka has played 26 times for Manchester United this season, starting 21 games. In that time, he has given one assistance.
