A draw at Stamford Bridge is a victory for Manchester City.
Chelsea F.C 2- 2 Liverpool F.C
Chelsea and Liverpool play out an entertaining 2-2 draw in their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge, although the result favours neither team and their title aspirations.
The Reds marched into a two-goal lead courtesy of goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, displaying a clinical edge in the Chelsea box. However, the Blues battled back before half-time through a stunner from Mateo Kovacic and a precise effort from Christian Pulisic. Both teams pressed in the second half but could not conjure a winner.
Chelsea remains in second place, and Liverpool is in third as both sides remain well off the pace of Manchester City at the top of the table.
Mane capitalizes on a mistake from Chalobah and hammers a left-footed strike into an empty net. The Senegalese rounds Mendy before dispatching his effort past Silva on the line. (1-0)
The Reds doubled their advantage as Salah coasts down the right flank before beating Mendy at his near post. He finds enough room to cut back on his left foot to blast a strike into the right corner of the net. A fine strike from Salah. (2-0)
Chelsea was back in the game courtesy of an extraordinary effort from Kovacic. (1-2)
The American missed a sitter earlier in the game, but on this occasion, he holds his composure to hook a strike into the top-right corner. What a first half. (2-2)
Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta Post Match reaction:
“Of course, we’re disappointed as we were 2-0 down, and we fought hard to come back. We wanted more, but we never lost the trust when we were down. We scored amazing goals, and we felt in the second half we could push for the third goal and the three points.”
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk Post Match reaction:
“If you are 2-0 up, you don’t want to concede that close to half time, give them the momentum to get back into the game, it happened – a fantastic strike, you have to give him credit. That gives them momentum, and they score the second. We tried not to panic and created fantastic moments even though we were under pressure.”
