Mumbai City FC will look to extend their four-win streak when the defending champions take on Kerala Blasters FC in a Hero Indian Super League 2021-22 league match to be played at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Sunday. The journey of the Mumbai team so far this season has been amazing. The club has not only defeated its opposition teams but also kept them under the weight of huge margins. Mumbai City, under coach Des Buckingham’s supervision, was put on hold for a long time by the defensively strong Chennaiyin FC in the previous football match, but they overcame this difficult hurdle in the 86th minute.
Buckingham said on the eve of the match, “I’m happy where the players are. We were the last team to start the pre-season. But the work we’ve done so far and the performances as a unit has made the match happy. We have started the season well. It is a 20-match season. We need to be better in every match. We have to respond to different challenges.”
On the other hand, Kerala Blasters are at the eighth position in the points table. They have six points in their account from only one win and three draws. Kerala had to play a 1-1 draw with SC East Bengal in the last match. The club will try to get back on the winning track against Mumbai City but for that, they will have to give their best.
Kerala Blasters coach Ivan Vukomanovic said, “Everyone is trying to stay positive and maintain consistency. We want to fight every match and every point. This type of match wants to play your part and go for it.”
