Brazil wants Carlo Ancelotti as their Head Coach. Despite Carlo Ancelotti’s assertion that he is content with Los Blancos, Brazil is still hopeful of persuading him to become their next head coach, according to The Athletic.
After Croatia eliminated the Selecao from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the quarterfinals in December, Tite resigned as the team’s manager. Since then, the national team has been searching for a new head coach.
Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, swiftly became the choice of the Brazilian Football Federation. The CBF has been determined to persuade the Italian to take over as the manager of their senior national team, even though he is under contract to Los Blancos until 2024.
However, Ancelotti recently shot down the notion that he will succeed Tite as Brazil’s head coach. The tactician made it clear that he wanted to manage the La Liga heavyweights again the following year.
Ancelotti stated, “Everyone knows well what my situation is,” according to The Athletic. I want to stay because my contract runs through the end of the 2024 season.”
The aforementioned source claims that Brazil, despite failing to hire the former Chelsea manager, has refused to give up. The CBF chose to extend the date for hiring their new coach even though May was the original deadline because they still want to persuade Ancelotti.
In the meantime, the Selecao has also given other contenders some thought as potential head coaches. According to the report, they have Jose Mourinho of AS Roma, Jorge Jesus of Fenerbahce, Fernando Diniz of Fluminense, and Abel Ferreira of Palmeiras on their radar.
Ramon Menezes, manager of Brazil’s U20 team, will oversee the senior team for its future matches as the hunt for the team’s new head coach continues. Next month, they have matches against Guinea and Cameroon planned. In a March friendly match, they were defeated 2-1 by Morocco.
How has Carlo Ancelotti performed as manager of Real Madrid?
The 63-year-old Carlo Ancelotti previously led Real Madrid for two years, from 2013 to 2015. Before the 2021–22 season, he returned to the team for a second term and took Zinedine Zidane’s place.
Real Madrid won La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the Spanish Super Cup in his first season back. In August 2022, Carlo Ancelotti also guided Los Blancos to a 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt to claim the UEFA Super Cup.
The 2022–23 season, however, was generally dismal for the Madrid giants. They gave up the league championship to Barcelona after losing to Manchester City in the semifinals of the Champions League.
Only the Copa del Rey has been won by Carlo Ancelotti’s team thus far. It is uncertain whether the Italian will be replaced by club management in light of his poor return.
