Vinicius Jr will leave Real Madrid if racial abuses repeat. Attacker Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid is said to have agreed to an interview and threatened to leave the team if he continued to encounter racism.
According to the Brazilian publication UOL, Vinicius intends to talk about the racial harassment he has been subjected to. The most recent incident happened during Valencia’s 1-0 La Liga victory over Los Blancos on Sunday (May 21). According to the source, if the assaults continue, the Brazilian may even threaten to quit the Santiago Bernabeu.
Vinicius’ tenure at Real Madrid has been tainted by persistent racial taunts from La Liga rival fans. It has grown to be a conspicuous problem that has damaged Spanish football’s reputation.
The young forward wants clarification and action from Spanish authorities after tens of thousands of spectators yelled “monkey” at him at the Mestalla. Following the loss against Valencia, Vinicius previously issued the following statement regarding the abuse: “It wasn’t the first time, second time, or third time. In La Liga, racism is commonplace. The opposition supports it, the Federation agrees with it, and the competition views it as normal. I’m sorry a lot.”
Vinicius went on to criticize the racism that has resulted after making references to the renowned players who have played in La Liga: “The racists now own the championship that formerly belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano, and Messi. A stunning country that I adore and that welcomed me and consented to project the stereotype of a racist society to the rest of the globe. I’m sorry for the Spanish people who disagree, but in Brazil right now, Spain is viewed as a racist nation.”
He concluded: “Unfortunately, I am unable to explain everything that occurs every week. I concur. But I’m a strong person, and I’ll fight racism till the bitter end.”
Vinicius has been in outstanding form this season, making 54 appearances across all competitions while tallying 23 goals and 21 assists. Real Madrid is unlikely to let the Brazilian depart by opening the door. His Los Merengues deal has a €1 billion termination fee and runs through 2027.
Vinicius is supported by Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti despite racial slurs:
Against Valencia, Carlo Ancelotti was ready to substitute the forward.
Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, has endorsed Vinicius. The young assailant is ready for the horrible and abhorrent torture to stop because he has had enough.
In the 97th minute of Valencia’s defeat, Vinicius was given a red card after his frustrations reached a boiling point. According to Ancelotti, he asked the attacker if he wanted to continue playing because of the aggressiveness during the game: “I spoke to him throughout the game because the tension was so high and so negative. I questioned him about continuing. I didn’t want to get rid of him because of the prejudiced environment. I’ve never experienced it. not in that way. It is unacceptable, and Vinicius is not La Liga’s problem.”
Vinicius and Ancelotti both agreed that racism in Spanish football had to disappear: “The victim is him. What needs to be done? That is not how football is played. The same thing would apply if we had triumphed. It’s too grave. They constantly make fun of Vinicius before showing him the door. I’m in an extremely depressing mood. Great teams play in this league, but we have to get rid of this. The year is 2023.”
One of La Liga’s most known wingers, Vinicius joined Real Madrid in 2018 and has since established himself. He is, however, correctly concluding that, in the face of persistent bigotry, the moment has come to act decisively.
