Real Madrid has a backup plan if not Harry Kane. Lautaro Martinez, an attacker for Inter Milan, has been targeted by Real Madrid as a backup striker. The La Liga powerhouses would make a play for the Argentine if they were unable to convince Harry Kane to leave Tottenham Hotspur shortly.
Martinez, 25, joined the Nerazzurri in 2018 after leaving Racing Club for more than £20 million and has since established himself as one of Italy’s finest strikers. He has so far assisted them in winning five titles, including the Serie A championship in 2020–21.
Martinez, a right-footed clinical finisher endowed with speed and heading, has been in excellent form for the team being coached by Simone Inzaghi this 2022–23 season. In 56 appearances across competitions, he has helped them win two domestic cups and the UEFA Champions League summit match by scoring 28 goals and providing 11 assists.
Jijantes claims that Real Madrid is now working quietly to find a replacement for Karim Benzema, who has decided to join Al-Ittihad. Due to his availability, Kane has been considered the main target for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
Real Madrid is currently keeping an eye on Martinez, whose contract is slated to end in June 2026, as a fallback option. Since Inter is short on funds, they are trying to come to a deal with them for their star this summer.
But earlier last month, Nerazzurri vice president Javier Zanetti said that despite interest from Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United, his team is reticent to go with the 2022 FIFA World Cup champion.
He stated: “Lautaro is a part of our epic journey; he develops every year. He is a vital football player, one who we want to keep for the time being. Enjoy it because he is content here and it is his home. I wish it could continue to be like way forever.”
In 237 games for Inter Milan, Martinez has amassed a respectable 102 goals and 36 assists.
Real Madrid is planning to sign a 24-year-old La Liga attacking player:
Samuel Chukwueze, a forward for Villarreal, has reportedly been targeted by Real Madrid for the summer, according to Todofichajes. The Nigerian is being sought by Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti as a long-term replacement for Marco Asensio.
Chukwueze, who assisted his country in winning the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup, maybe traded this summer as his contract is up in the next 12 months. Villarreal is thought to value him at around €40 million right now.
The 27-cap Nigerian international, a former standout at Diamond Football Academy, had a successful season with 13 goals and 11 assists in 50 games. He contributed to the Yellow Submarine finishing the La Liga season in fifth place.
