Strasbourg’s coach denies criticism of Lionel Messi. Ahead of their Ligue 1 matchup against PSG, Strasbourg manager Frédéric Antonetti has showered admiration on Lionel Messi. Antonetti referred to Messi as “Mr. Football” and asserted that the Argentinean is the only person who truly understands the game.
Since the club was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League this season, Messi has come under attack from PSG supporters. In light of Barcelona’s interest in re-signing the Argentine, they have been pushing for his departure from the team.
In his remarks before the game the previous week, Antonetti had no interest in those who criticized Messi. He stated:
“Messi is Mr. Football; he is the game. He is football 24/7. He does indeed walk a little, but even then, he is the best at understanding football.”
Both Strasbourg and PSG will be pleased with a draw because it would ensure PSG’s league championship while ensuring Antonetti’s team’s safety from relegation.
Emmanuel Petit blasts PSG supporters for disparaging Lionel Messi:
At Parc des Princes, PSG supporters jeered and insulted Lionel Messi, which infuriated Emmanuel Petit. He recommended the Argentine leave the club and claimed that the supporters were demeaning to football.
He said the following on TNT Sports: “Leo Messi whistle-blowing is disrespectful to football. He must depart from that group. PSG isn’t even a football team.
Petit continued when chatting with Legal SportsBooks: “I feel bad for everyone who had the guts to attack Messi. But this guy is football to me. He and his family made a very, very large decision when he left Barcelona. It took him several months to settle down in Paris, the city, and the club.”
“But they were attacking his family with everything that happened during the season with the supporters and the press, as well as what happened at the end of the previous season when he and Neymar were jeered. If I were Messi, I would have immediately quit the team. I’m sorry, but I’m not staying. No.”
This summer, Barcelona hopes to re-sign Lionel Messi. In addition to negotiating an agreement with the Argentine, they have begun the process of paying the salary debt.
