PSG midfielder discloses he could leave the club soon. Georginio Wijnaldum, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has stated that the amount of playing time he receives will determine which team he joins next.
Since becoming a free agent in the summer of 2021 after his contract with Liverpool expired, Wijnaldum has faced two challenging seasons. Over the past two seasons, he has only appeared 61 times, starting just 34 times.
The Dutchman has now claimed that he has not discussed his future with PSG or AS Roma, the club where he played on loan for the 2022–23 season. As reported by Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Wijnaldum stated to AD that: “I haven’t yet spoken with Roma or PSG. I haven’t made up my mind yet; I’ll choose my next club based on how I feel. While I’ll weigh my options, I truly want to play as I haven’t since 2021.”
In the 2021–22 season, Wijnaldum played 38 times for the Parisians in all competitions, however, he only started 22 games. He scored three goals and provided three assists.
At the beginning of the 2022–23 campaign, the Parisians loaned him to Roma, but a tibia fracture prevented him from playing in 20 of the Giallorossi’s first 21 Serie A games. Then, in their next nine league games, he started seven of them, but a hamstring injury forced him to miss two more games.
Wijnaldum came off the bench in the UEFA Europa Conference League championship game and started three of Roma’s final four Serie A contests. Only 23 appearances across all competitions and two goals and an assist were all he had by the conclusion of the term.

The contract that Georginio Wijnaldum signed with PSG in the summer of 2021 presently has one more year to run.
However, a report from Football Transfers claims that the Parisians intend to offload him during the ensuing transfer season. According to the aforementioned rumor, Atalanta BC of Serie A is reportedly interested in signing him.
There are several midfielders available right now for the defending Ligue 1 champions to choose from. This includes Warren Zaire-Emery, Fabian Ruiz, Carlos Soler, Renato Sanches, Vitinha, Danilo Pereira, Marco Verratti, and Vitinha. Wijnaldum, 32, might not have a place in their team as a result.
