Turkish giants want to sign David de Gea. Turkish television A SPOR reports that Fenerbahce is showing interest in David de Gea as his future at Manchester United continues to be uncertain.
Since joining the Red Devils from Atletico Madrid for about £21.5 million in 2011, De Gea has been a crucial part of the team. For the team, the goalie has made 545 appearances in all league games while recording 190 shutouts. In addition, he has assisted them in eight trophy victories, including one Premier League crown.
The Spaniard’s future at Manchester United is currently in doubt, though. On Friday, June 30, his contract with the team at Old Trafford came to an end. According to The Sun, the English giants have reportedly requested the shot-stopper to wait to sign with another team until they have a replacement in place.
De Gea reportedly agreed to a new contract with slightly lower pay only for United to back out of the arrangement, according to a recent report in The Athletic. The former Atletico player has received a new offer from the Red Devils, but they are asking him to take a wage that is even lower.
Following his wedding at the weekend, there are rumors that the Premier League team may speak with the goalie again. Behind the scenes, though, they are also trying to sign a new shot-stopper, and Andre Onana, Justin Bijlow, Kevin Trapp, and Diogo Costa are all being considered.
Twelve years with Manchester United could come to an end this summer for De Gea. The Spain international, though, will have options because Fenerbahce is showing interest in him. The aforementioned source claims that the Turkish giants have inquired about the goalkeeper’s compensation needs.
In the summer, Fenerbahce added four players to their roster, including Edin Dzeko and Ryan Kent. They are currently focusing on acquiring a new goalkeeper, and De Gea and Dominik Livakovic of Dinamo Zagreb are two candidates they are considering.
There are other parties with an interest in De Gea besides the Super Lig team. Al-Nassr, a powerful club in Saudi Arabia, is also interested in signing the goalkeeper for nothing. In Riyadh, he might run into Cristiano Ronaldo, a former teammate of his at Manchester United.
Manchester United identifies Justin Bijlow as a cheap alternative to Andre Onana:
Andre Onana, the goalkeeper for Inter Milan, has received significant attention from Manchester United. After working with the Cameroonian at Ajax, manager Erik ten Hag allegedly wants to work with him again. With the Serie A giants demanding at least £43 million, the Red Devils might be priced out of a deal for the goalie.
Thus, Justin Bijlow of Feyenoord has become a possibility for the Premier League’s powerhouses. According to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, United places a value of about £17.1 million on the Dutch international. However, the player’s bosses do not intend to offload him this summer.
Thus, Ten Hag and Co. might have to look for other options. Diogo Costa of FC Porto and Kevin Trapp of Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly candidates at Old Trafford. It’s important to keep in mind that the former can be just as expensive as Onana.
