Jamal Musiala says Messi and Neymar are his idols. Jamal Musiala, a playmaker for Bayern Munich, has hinted that Neymar Jr. and Lionel Messi, stars for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), were his childhood heroes. Musiala, 19, started all three of his team’s games during the group round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, showcasing his impressive dribbling abilities. He has gradually established himself as a fixture at Bayern as well.
In 14 Bundesliga games this season, the teenager has been unstoppable, tallying nine goals and seven assists. Musiala frequently receives comparisons to some of the best dribblers in the game, such as Neymar and Lionel Messi, due to his flawless ball control.
The German international claims that he watched footage of the pair as a child in an effort to improve his own dribbling skills. Musiala responded to Bundesliga.com’s inquiry about his dribbling and skill role models as follows: “I watched a lot of [Lionel] Messi and Neymar videos when I was younger. I was always impressed by their dribbling skills, and seeing them play was always fun.”
Even while he still has a long way to go before he can compete with Lionel Messi and Neymar, he is unquestionably headed in the right direction. The Stuttgart-born player is possibly one of Bayern’s most valuable assets right now.
The Bavarian giants don’t need to be concerned about his immediate future because he still has three and a half years left on his contract at the Allianz Arena. Given his form, one may speculate that a new contract offer wouldn’t be too far off.
On January 16 at Roazhon Park, PSG lost to Stade Rennais 1-0 due to the atypical inefficiency of Neymar and Lionel Messi. Both players had a pass accuracy of 81%, one chance apiece, and no shots on target. Ten minutes into the second half, Kylian Mbappe was added but had little effect on the game.
Due to this, RC Lens was able to reduce the distance between them and the leaders of the table after 19 games to only three points. The 29th of January will see PSG’s next Ligue 1 match at Parc des Princes versus Reims. Fans may expect to witness Messi and company play in a friendly match against Riyadh XI later today, though (January 19).
