Messi may see an extension in their contract with PSG. According to Christophe Galtier, Paris Saint-Germain and Lionel Messi are in contract extension discussions. The Argentine superstar’s current contract at Parc des Princes will end in the summer. He led his nation to international triumph at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. It makes sense that PSG would want to keep the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner from becoming a free agent, and they have new terms ready to be agreed upon for some time.
Messi’s plans are currently the subject of increased conversation, with PSG manager Galtier stating: “There are discussions, the administration of the club has spoken with Leo on the subject of an extension – I’m not sure at what point it is at. To me, Leo seemed content to be in Paris.”
Galtier continued by acknowledging that any decision regarding Messi must be taken “in accordance to the club’s project,” as PSG continues to have a fiercely ambitious goal of winning both local and continental championships.
Messi is expected to agree to stay at PSG for at least one more season before considering his options. Messi left Barcelona in the summer of 2021 on a spectacular free transfer. There have been rumors that Messi could be persuaded to move to the United States at some point; however, despite Inter Miami manager Phil Neville’s admission that he would love to welcome the all-time great to MLS, there doesn’t seem to be much of a desire on the part of the South American to do so any time soon given that he still has much to accomplish in Europe.
