Aubameyang reacts to Arsenal fan’s sympathetic Instagram post. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Chelsea responds to an understanding Instagram post from an Arsenal fan.
Yesterday (May 3), struggling Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave an emotional response to an Instagram post from an Arsenal supporter. This came after the latter acknowledged that, given all the criticism the former Gunner had received over the previous year, he felt bad for him.
For a sum of £56 million, Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang joined Arsenal in January 2018. He quickly won over the support of the crowd after scoring 10 goals in his first 14 games for the team. Alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, he went on to win the Golden Boot in his first full season with the Gunners with 22 goals.
Despite the fact that Mikel Arteta’s teams won the FA Cup and Community Shield, Aubameyang lost favor with the latter owing to disciplinary issues. During the 2021–22 season, he lost his captaincy, and in February, Barcelona acquired him. He played 163 times for Arsenal and scored 92 goals.
He played well for the Blaugrana, tallying 13 goals in 24 games. But in August 2022, he was robbed at gunpoint in his Barcelona home and even had his jaw broken.
Aubameyang rejoined Chelsea and the Premier League a month later. Under Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, he failed to make an impression, and the latter left him off the Champions League roster. In 21 appearances, he has only three goals.
On May 2, he received a rare start against Arsenal from Frank Lampard, but he struggled to make an impression and was taken out before halftime.
Arsenal fans booed Aubameyang off the pitch as Chelsea went on to lose 3-1. One supporter wrote on Instagram to show his sympathies for him: “I genuinely feel horrible for him. Always upbeat, he nearly lost his mother, contracted malaria, experienced a horrible finale at Arsenal, moved to Barca and had his home robbed, and is currently playing 0 games for Chelsea. was ridiculed by our players at Stamford Bridge and is now being jeered by fans he adored.
Response from Aubameyang: “People occasionally lose sight of reality and forget that events are beyond their control.”
Following the victory over Chelsea, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provides an injury update for Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba:
Gabriel Magalhaes, the center-back for Arsenal, may not be able to play against Newcastle on May 7 due to an injury sustained during the team’s victory against Chelsea, according to Mikel Arteta. In addition, he said he didn’t know if William Saliba would be accessible.
Arsenal defeated the Blues by a score of 3-1 to get back on the winning track. The fact that Gabriel had to leave the game in the 85th minute due to injury, though, was a major worry for Arteta. Saliba hasn’t played for the Gunners since sustaining a back injury in March, as well.
Arteta provided an update on the pair following the victory over Chelsea (via football.london): “Gabriel attempted for ten to fifteen minutes but was unable to continue, which was very concerning.”
Regarding William Saliba, he responded as follows: “I’m not sure,”
Rob Holding and Jakub Kiwior would be expected to fill in for Gabriel and Saliba if they were both unable to play in the match against the Magpies.
