Arsenal added a second bid for Ajax Defender. This week, according to reports, Arsenal will make a second offer for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber. The Dutch club turned down the Gunners’ initial bid because the two sides’ valuations were so disparate.
According to a rumor by Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal intends to offer Timber €45 million. The price of the offer is expected to include add-ons that might raise it to €48 million.
The Gunners’ initial offer for the Dutchman was rejected by Ajax because it was close to €35 million. The Eredivise side is asking for significantly more than €55 million, but Mikel Arteta’s staff are expected to again undervalue the team.
The article further states that Timber has a contract in place with the North London Club through the year 2028 and has no interest in speaking with any other parties. According to Dutch journalist Mike Verweij, the defender is eager to go and stated:
He has stated repeatedly that he only wants to leave Ajax for the best possible club. After Arsenal and Bayern Munich report, he pays little attention to any other teams. Even Bayern, who hasn’t made an offer yet, is still holding out. His dream and top priority are Arsenal. He made it his target.
Liverpool was rumored to be interested in signing the Ajax player earlier this summer, along with Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
Arsenal target Jurrien Timber on leaving Ajax:
He stated to the Dutch news outlet Algemeen Dagblad: “According to what I can tell, Ajax wants to keep me here. I’m not sure what else to say about it. That subject will probably be discussed shortly. My current circumstance is identical to last year’s. I’m not sure if I will take such action right away. I’m glad to be here at Ajax because you can always be yourself here.”
He was quoted by Sky Sports earlier this year as saying: “So to speak, a transfer is getting closer and closer. There is a lot of actual interest, and Ajax and I have agreements. Ajax urged me to renew my contract and stay for at least one more season last year. I did it out of love for the team, and after the season, we’ll discuss the matter. I frequently speak with lads who play football abroad at the Dutch national team. One day, I want to make that decision.”
Last summer, Manchester United made a deal for Timber, but Ajax insisted that he stay for one more season before departing.
