5 offers await the Chelsea star, David Fofana. According to the German publication Fussball Transfers, five clubs in Germany and France are interested in signing Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana so that he may get consistent playing time next season.
Fofana, 20, joined the Blues in January after leaving Norwegian club Molde FK for almost €13 million. After a standout stint in Norway, where he scored 24 goals and provided 10 assists in 65 games across tournaments, the striker moved to the Premier League.
The Cote d’Ivoire international, though, has struggled to get playing time at Stamford Bridge. His lone appearance for Chelsea during the previous campaign came in February’s 1-0 Premier League loss at home to Southampton. In the 2022–23 season, the teenager only made three more appearances for the English giants.
It’s important to note that Kai Havertz will reportedly be sold by Mauricio Pochettino’s team to Arsenal for up to €75.6 million. It is also widely believed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will quit the team this summer. If they leave, Fofana will have a better chance of getting more playing time the following season.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer specialist, claims that Chelsea is almost certain to get Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal for about €35 million. There are no assurances that Fofana will be a regular under Pochettino because Armando Broja is also making a recovery from an injury.
Therefore, a short-term transfer for the former Molde center-forward may be on the cards. If Fofana goes on loan from Blues, he won’t be without options. The aforementioned source claims that at least five clubs are interested in signing him.
According to the report, Augsburg of the Bundesliga is one of the organizations interested in hiring Fofana. They first expressed interest in the Ivorian in January and have now expressed that desire once more. Union Berlin, a league foe, is a competitor for the Bavarian club.
Fofana has also gotten a lot of attention from Ligue 1 teams. He has received interest from Strasbourg, OGC Nice, and LOSC Lille. Strasbourg’s interest is particularly interesting in light of Chelsea’s recent majority ownership purchase of the French club.
Where does David Datro Fofana, a striker for Chelsea, fit in?:
With five center-forwards, Augsburg has a stacked assault. While Kelvin Yeboah and Mergim Berisha are now on loan, the club has the option to make their arrangements permanent. Sven Michel from Union Berlin has also been signed, therefore it’s unclear how David Datro Fofana would fit in.
When Michel’s transfer to Augsburg is finalized, Jordan and Kevin Behrens will be Union Berlin’s only choices at center-forward. The Bundesliga club’s manager Urs Fischer prefers a two-man frontline, so the Chelsea forward might start there frequently.
Meanwhile, Lille runs the risk of losing Jonathan David this summer as the Canadian international has been linked to teams all around Europe. In the event the striker leaves, they might go for Fofana. In contrast, the Ivorian might face off against Terem Moffi in Nice.
Habib Diallo is the No. 9 center forward for Strasbourg out of their three available options. Other teams, like West Ham United, are reportedly interested in the Senegal international. Therefore, a move for Fofana makes sense for the French team.
