Arsenal in race with Liverpool to sign Mason Mount. Mason Mount of Chelsea has been targeted by Arsenal as a midfield target during the summer transfer window.
Mount’s Stamford Bridge contract is slated to expire in the summer of 2019, and negotiations for an extension have not gone smoothly. According to rumors, he is at odds with the Blues because he wants to sign a contract that will pay him £200,000 a week.
While numerous teams, most notably Liverpool and Manchester United, are keeping an eye on the contract negotiations, Chelsea is still optimistic that its young product will prolong his stay at the club.
According to a recent rumor by David Ornstein of The Athletic, Arsenal is interested in signing Mount after the 2022–23 season. The likelihood that Granit Xhaka will leave the Gunners this summer has increased Mikel Arteta’s desire to reinforce the midfield.
Arteta has chosen Mount as his aim because he wants to offer innovation in a more senior capacity. The study claims: “They also want to add creativity in a more advanced position, which has fueled their pursuit of Mason Mount. However, they face stiff competition from Manchester United and Liverpool, and Chelsea will make one last effort to extend his contract before it expires in 2024.”
According to the article, Arsenal will also aim to capture West Ham United captain Declan Rice when the transfer market opens. Rice is one of Mount’s closest pals.
Arsenal will challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next season, according to Nigel Winterburn:
The legendary Nigel Winterburn of Arsenal has predicted that the Gunners will contend for the Premier League championship next year.
The North London club appeared to be on track to win the league championship this season, but they ultimately came up short because they were unable to stay up with Manchester City. Despite the setback, Winterburn supports Mikel Arteta’s team to build on their mistakes in 2022–23 and mount another title challenge.
He said to The Daily Star: “Why shouldn’t they be able to try again and succeed next season if they have already demonstrated their ability to do so this season? They have a lot of confidence now, and I believe that if they have similar success next season and the younger players continue to acquire experience, the squad will do well.”
