Liverpool wants to sign a midfielder valued at £50m. Romeo Lavia, a midfielder for Southampton, is allegedly a target for Liverpool this summer.
This summer, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner all departed Liverpool on free transfers. While Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho, and Jordan Henderson may have disappointed last season. Therefore, Jurgen Klopp’s team is trying to improve its midfield.
Alexis Mac Allister and Domink Szoboszlai are the two midfielders whom the Reds have already signed this summer. For almost £35 million, they acquired Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion. They proceeded to activate Szoboszlai’s £60 million release clause to acquire him from RB Leipzig.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a transfer specialist, the Merseysiders are currently looking to sign Lavia. The Belgian midfielder’s price tag from Southampton is £50 million. This summer, Arsenal is also quite interested in signing him.
“Liverpool has been pursuing Romeo Lavia since Monday, and despite the arrival of Mac Allister and Szoboszlai, nothing has changed. Liverpool is still interested in Lavia, who is on the list with Thuram. Still really interested in Arsenal, but it relies on Thomas leaving.
Romano Tweeted: “Southampton wants a £50 million fee.”
Lavia, 19, moved from Manchester City to Southampton last summer. The teenager performed admirably in 34 senior matches across various competitions even though the Saints were demoted.
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez compared with Timo Werner:
Darwin Nunez was acquired by the Reds from Benfica last summer for a club-record £85 million. In 42 games across all competitions last season, he scored 15 goals and contributed four assists.
He did, however, squander a lot of excellent goal-scoring opportunities. Nunez was occasionally deployed on the left wing by manager Jurgen Klopp, which may not have been the best move for him.
Nunez might experience a similar period at Liverpool as Timo Werner experienced at Chelsea, according to former Irish striker Tony Cascarino, who told talkSPORT: “In the past year or two, Klopp has noticed a significant influx of attack-oriented players. Nunez, though, I’m still determining. He spent an entire year at Anfield, but it didn’t work out.”
“His year has been unsatisfactory. He seems to be shaping out to be a Timo Werner or a Torres, in my opinion. The chances he gets won’t result in conversion for him.”
For £47.5 million, Werner moved from RB Leipzig to Chelsea in 2020. In 89 appearances, he scored 23 goals and had 21 assists, but he was criticized for missing several chances in front of the net. For £25 million, he returned to Leipzig last summer.
