Southampton to sign Manchester United forward. According to Football Insider, Southampton has contacted Manchester United about the prospect of signing Amad Diallo on a loan for the 2023–24 season.
The 20-year-old Diallo impressed Sunderland during his season-long loan there. In 42 games in various competitions with them, he scored 14 goals and provided four assists. Even though the Championship team fell 4-1 on aggregate against Luton Town in the playoff semifinal, the attacker was crucial to their attempt to gain promotion.
Before the 2023–24 season, the Cote d’Ivoire international has now returned to Manchester United. According to the aforementioned source, he arrived at Carrington on Thursday, July 6, for training. There have been rumors that during the preseason, manager Erik Ten Hag will examine him more closely.
But Diallo’s best bet seems to be to take out another loan. It has been reported that Sunderland is interested in re-signing him temporarily. The forward would like to return to the Stadium of Light if he were to be sent out on loan in the upcoming season, according to a report from transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano last month.
In addition to the Black Cats, Leeds United has also been mentioned about Diallo. After being relegated last season, the Yorkshire-based team is aiming for a swift return to the Premier League. The United kid might be a fantastic addition to the Whites’ assault with players like Wilfried Gnonto possibly going.
The most recent team to display interest in Diallo is Southampton. The aforementioned source claims that they have spoken with Manchester United about the possibility of loaning the attacker out. The Saints, who finished last in the Premier League last season, are also hoping to quickly return to the top tier, similar to Leeds.
Manchester United prepares to bid for Rasmus Hojlund:
Amad Diallo was acquired by Manchester United for up to £37 million in 2021 from Atalanta. Since then, the Ivorian has made nine appearances for them in various tournaments, helping them score two goals. Since the team’s 1-1 home tie with BSC Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League in December 2021, he has not appeared for the squad.
The Red Devils are contemplating a bid for another Atalanta player as Diallo faces the possibility of spending another season on loan. The Daily Telegraph claims that they are putting together a £50 million offer for Rasmus Hojlund. The Norwegian is the primary center-forward target for Erik Ten Hag’s team.
Hojlund, 21, moved from Strum Graz of Austria to Atalanta last year for about £14.7 million. He finished the season with 32 Serie A appearances, nine goals, and four assists. The forward might now be headed for the Premier League.
