Tottenham shows interest in signing former Arsenal star. Matteo Guendouzi, a former midfielder for Arsenal, is allegedly a target for Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.
The Olympique de Marseille midfielder is being chased by Aston Villa, according to Mohamed Toubache (h/t Get Football News France). Along with Spurs, Newcastle United is allegedly a contender.
However, it’s claimed that manager Unai Emery and former Marseille player Boubacar Kamara would work in the Villans’ favor in the pursuit of Guendouzi. At the U18, U21, and senior levels, the two midfielders have paired up for France.
Additionally, they participated in 47 games together as OM advanced to the UEFA Europa Conference League semifinals and ended as runners-up in Ligue 1. The French club paid €11 million to sign Guendouzi permanently last summer after being impressed with him during his season-long loan stint.
At the completion of the current campaign, the former member of the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) development academy will have two years remaining on his Stade Velodrome deal. His current team reportedly values him at €32 million.
Despite only playing for Arsenal for two seasons, Guendouzi remained on their books for four years. Under Emery, he appeared in 66 different competitions, which is a career-high for any manager.
When Mikel Arteta assumed over in December 2019, things changed. They reportedly had a falling out, which resulted in Guendouzi’s gradual but complete exclusion from first-team play. Nevertheless, he has performed admirably for Marseille.
In 41 club games in all competitions this season, the seven-cap France international has five goals and as many assists.
Former Tottenham great criticize Arsenal supporters for leaving the team during a loss to Brighton:
The Arsenal supporters who left the stadium before their team’s 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on May 14 infuriated former Tottenham Hotspur custodian Paul Robinson.
The Seagulls absolutely controlled the game in the second 45 minutes after the first half ended scoreless. They scored three goals without receiving a response. As a result, several Arsenal supporters left the Emirates early.
It was a signal that they had given up on winning the Premier League championship. To win the title, Manchester City only needs three points from their final three games.
Robinson attacked Gunners supporters on the Monday Night Club, as reported by The Boot Room: “You need your supporters. Together, you set out on this trip, and you continue on it. No matter which league you play in, these supporters will still be present the following season. If you support a football team, you stick with them all the way to the end.”
