Charlie Patino will leave this summer. According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal’s Charlie Patino wants to leave the Emirates this summer in quest of a fresh challenge.
The highly regarded 19-year-old’s desire to leave the club was first reported earlier this summer, but there have been no more updates. The scenario is still the same, according to Romano, who also stated that the Gunners will consider including a buy-back clause if Patino departs.
The update was given by the transfer news expert in his CaughtOffside column: “A lot of my fans have been asking me about Charlie Patino’s situation. Even though it’s been quiet since his recent admission that he wanted to go, I sense that the situation hasn’t changed—he wants a fresh challenge and a permanent exit.”
He added: “From Arsenal’s perspective, a buy-back clause would be desirable to have in any future transaction, without a doubt.”
The Athletic stated last month that Patino’s deal to Arsenal would be facilitated by Arsenal, according to football.london. The article also stated that despite the club exercising an option to extend his contract until 2025, he was not expected to be part of the Gunners’ plans for the 2023–24 campaign.
The article further stated that both the UK and other countries are interested in the player. Patino, who has represented England at the U-15, U-16, U-17, U-19, and U-20 levels, is also a Spanish citizen.
Charlie Patino, an Arsenal player, made an impression while on loan at Blackpool last year:
During the 2021–22 season, Charlie Patino played for Arsenal in two games, which is when he initially gained attention. One of them involved a 5-1 victory for the Gunners over AFC Sunderland in the EFL Cup quarterfinal.
Patino was given a loan to Blackpool to play regularly for the first team due to the battle for midfield positions in Arteta’s squad. He participated in 34 of the Seasiders’ 46 EFL Championship games, scoring twice, dishing out four assists, and scoring in their 2-1 FA Cup loss to Southampton in the fourth round.
In the Championship, Patino demonstrated his talent by averaging 0.7 critical passes, 1.5 interceptions, 1.9 tackles, and 5.3 successful duels per game. Blackpool still placed 23rd overall out of 24 teams and was relegated to League One, the third tier of English football.
