Rio Ferdinand praises Manchester City for winning the Champions League:
Manchester City completed the treble this season with their victory in the Champions League. Since their cross-town rivals Manchester United (1999), they were the first English team to do this.
Rio Ferdinand, a former United player, praised Pep Guardiola’s team for their amazing accomplishment. The former central defender stated the following regarding the triple champions (according to Mirror): “These guys have individually played some absolutely incredible football, but as a group, this squad will go down in history. They merit it. a wonderful group. They have been able to play both sides of the game and have dug deep when necessary.”
He added: “That’s what sets this City team apart from previous ones. They can pass and play fantasy football, but when it’s necessary, they can also dig in, roll up their sleeves, and battle through games. In this team, balance is key.”
Meanwhile, Guardiola has now achieved the treble with two separate squads. He had done it previously with Barcelona during the 2008–09 season. The Spanish manager made history by becoming the first to claim the European Triple with two different teams.
