Chelsea is prepared to acquire stakes in Strasbourg. Ed Aarons of The Guardian reports that Chelsea would buy a 40% share in Strasbourg, a Ligue 1 team. Following UEFA’s relaxation of the multi-team prohibition, Aarons previously revealed alongside Romain Molina in March that the Blues owners are interested in purchasing a Ligue 1 club.
The president of Strasbourg, Marc Keller, also indicated that the Blues had expressed interest in purchasing stock in the organization. In September 2022, co-owner Todd Boehly stated (per The Guardian): “We can demonstrate ways for our future Chelsea stars to enter the field while giving them valuable game time.”
According to the article, Tom Glick, Chelsea’s new head of business, was given the responsibility of managing the acquisition of Strasbourg. Aleksander Ceferin, head of UEFA, spoke to Gary Neville on the Overlap channel on the organization’s likely measures to ease the multi-club ban.
Back in March, he stated: “We’ve had five or six club owners express interest in purchasing another club. We must determine what to do. Either it stays that way, or we let them participate in the same competition. I’m not yet certain.
It appears that the process is now finished. Aarons added that it would be possible to anticipate a formal declaration on the subject soon.
Christopher Nkunku, a recent addition to Chelsea, received praise from a former coach:
One of the top players in the Bundesliga was signed by Chelsea in January for a summer transfer. Christopher Nkunku, a star for RB Leipzig, joins the team on a long-term basis. For the German team in recent years, the Frenchman was outstanding.
In 36 games across all competitions for Leipzig last season, he scored 23 goals and contributed nine assists. In 172 games for the team, Nkunku totaled 70 goals and 56 assists.
Nkunku was coached by Cedric Cattenoy, who is currently a scout for Chicago Fire while playing for Paris Saint-Germain’s juvenile teams.
On the Blues’ official website, Cattenoy discussed his experience and stated: “It was a pleasure to mentor him. He was a really good kid who was always driven, passionate about football, and courteous. He had strong familial support, which is crucial for a young athlete.”
Nkunku is anticipated to play a significant role for the Blues next season with Kai Havertz on the verge of joining Arsenal. After a dismal season in which they placed 12th in the Premier League, the west Londoners are eager to refocus. Next season, Chelsea will be under the direction of Mauricio Pochettino.
