Everton to sign a £25 million move for Hakim Ziyech. According to Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports, Everton will pay up to £25 million for Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech in January. Only four of the Moroccan international’s outings this season have been starts in the Premier League. He competed for Morocco, which placed fourth overall in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Many still view the 29-year-old as a competent player with the capacity to influence play in the closing third. Moving to Goodison Park might be advantageous for both sides. Everton will acquire a seasoned player with 2.5 seasons of Premier League experience. It might be a chance for Ziyech to play frequently and make the most of the rest of his prime years.
Solhekol claims that the Toffees have expressed interest in the midfielder but have not yet made a bid. He stated: “According to one source, Everton was prepared to offer [Hakim] Ziyech up to $25 million. Everton claims that no formal offer has been made. Once more, would he prefer to join a team like Everton over Chelsea and the Champions League?”
The Merseyside-based team has played 20 league games and now sits in 19th place with only 15 points. Borussia Dortmund will play Chelsea in the Champions League round of 16, despite Chelsea’s ranking of 10. Under the ownership of new owner Todd Boehly, they have also made significant investments in their team, spending about £460 million on transfers. Meanwhile, Everton is now without a permanent manager following Frank Lampard’s dismissal earlier this week.
It is unclear if Ziyech is willing to put himself through the wringer in the lowest reaches of the Premier League. There are still two and a half years on the contract of the 2020 Eredivisie “Player of the Year” at Stamford Bridge. For a cost of £33 million, the Belgian international moved to Goodison Park this summer. Since then, he has been a consistent member of their first team, contributing to one goal and scoring one in 18 league contests.
The 21-year-decision old’s to transfer to Stamford Bridge, where manager Graham Potter could use fresh talent in his midfield, is still up in the air. Both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante, who are both 31 years old, are deteriorating and may become free agents this summer. Meanwhile, Conor Gallagher has been thought disposable if the price is right. Thus, the west London giants may see value in making a move for Onana, who has four and a half years left on his deal.
