Guardiola speaks on Kyle Walker. Kyle Walker’s absence from the starting lineup for Saturday’s (June 10) UEFA Champions League final versus Inter Milan has been explained by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
In relation to the Serie A team, the Spaniard stated that he preferred the team to defend differently. Hence. Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, and John Stones make up Guardiola’s starting back four.
In an interview with BT before the championship game at Ataturk Stadium, City manager Pep Guardiola said: “He could have been there; it was really difficult. We require a different kind of player to play the defence and offence the way we desire. the sole justification.”
Walker has played 38 times for Manchester City so far this year. He didn’t make the starting lineup for the Champions League final, though, and will start the match against the Nerazzuri from the bench. Guardiola’s selection surprised some fans a little bit because Inter are famed for their quick attacks.
The Premier League champions may have benefited greatly from Walker’s speed. However, the 33-year-old could still contribute as a substitute.
The starting lineup for City’s matchup with Inter Milan is as follows:
Ederson Moraes (GK). Manuel Akanji, John Stones, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake (Defenders). Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne (Midfielders). Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland (Attackers)
Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, said, “Having Messi in the past and having Haaland now”:
Manchester City is poised to win their first UEFA Champions League championship under Pep Guardiola’s direction. A victory in Istanbul would also give the Cityzens their first-ever treble-winning season.
With Barcelona, Guardiola captured the treble in the 2008–09 campaign. He also enjoyed a successful run at Bayern Munich. With City, the Spaniard has dominated English football.
Guardiola explained the formula for his extraordinary success as follows (via Republic World): “Have quality players! My achievement is having Haaland now and Messi in the past. It’s the truth, not a joke! Let them understand that they cannot accomplish this on their own and that we are stronger as a group when we have the same goals.”
“The men that follow me will be in attendance. Strong institutions have strong players, and every successful manager has strong institutions. I’ll be honest with you: I’ve never scored a goal while managing.”
In the Champions League final, Manchester City will face a tough test from Inter Milan, as Simone Inzaghi’s team is not one to be taken lightly. The Nerzzuri seek to finish fourth overall and capture their first UCL since their victory at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2009-10.
